HISTORY OF
ARANSAS PASS YACHT CLUB

In March, 2002, a group of interested local residents got together for a first formal meeting to discuss whether there was sufficient community interest to form a new yacht club in Aransas Pass, Texas. Initial interest was encouraging, which led to a second meeting a week later to take discussions further. From that point on, there was no stopping.

With remarkable speed and effort on the part of several founding members, APYC was officially incorporated on July 26, 2002, with bylaws ratified on August 13th. As of May 2010, there are 250 members. Our members come from all over Texas and include a number of Winter Texans living part-time in other parts of the United States. APYC is proud to have strong support and participation by an enthusiastic and motivated membership.

Early in 2010 the dream of having a permanent club facility became a reality. Located in the Aransas Pass Marina, off Ransom Channel, the new clubhouse is owned and operated by its Members. Club mixers and boating activities are held regularly along with informal Club Nights the second and fourth Mondays of the month as a means to provide networking amongst members and to catch up on current events. Other activities include cruise nights, raftup outings, boating vacations and lighted boat parades. Slip rentals are available to Members, and transient docks are available to YCA members.

Now that the clubhouse is operational, APYC will move forward with new determination in its efforts to fulfill its mission to Members and the community.
