Flatos Cut - Friday, March 21
Cruise to Flatos Cut where we will have a Club raftup to mother ships Miss 'n Texas (Bruce and Kathy Reynolds) and Elysium (Paul and Karen Froeschner). We will be grilling steaks and provide baked potatoes, salad and bread. Large boats should plan to arrive by 2 p.m. so we can raft the larger boats together and let the smaller ones tie up on the outsides. Food will be served at 4 p.m. so there is plenty of time for those of you not overnighting to get back to your dock or your cars before dark. BYOB, steak (or chicken if you prefer) an appetizer and/or dessert to share. Please plan to chip in a buck or two to cover the cost of potatoes and salad. Once we have a total rsvp, we'll know just how much we need. If you plan to bring your boat (large or small) and have room for riders who may not have their own boat, please let us know so we can put you together. If you prefer to drive, Flatos is near Port A, so we'll provide water taxis out to the raftup. We will arrange to pick you up at the Island Moorings Marina. If you plan to join us, please let us know so: - we can be sure to have enough sides - we know how many need to use the water taxi - we can help you get or give a boat ride if you are interested - we can monitor the safety of all participants. BE SURE TO HAVE ENOUGH LIFE JACKETS ON BOARD FOR ALL PASSENGERS. RSVP to Karen Froeschner at 758-7214 or e-mail pk1@cableone.net Click Here To RSVP Click here to see this event on the Calendar. |

Lighthouse Tour - Monday, April 14th
APYC has arranged for our Members to tour the HEB-family lighthouse located off Lydia Ann Channel on Monday, April 14th, small-craft weather permitting. The lighthouse is still the private residence of Charles Butts and his family, but they graciously allow visitors to tour the property and share the history of the lighthouse and the area. Because the residence is still actively used, dates for tours are subject to the needs of the family and friends. We realize that a week day is not convenient for everyone, but we do hope it will be possible for you to arrange your schedule to join in. Transportation to the lighthouse is only by small watercraft; the entrance is off the Lydia Ann Channel. There is ample dock space to tie up. Plan to arrive between 1:0 and 1:30 p.m., bring a picnic lunch and beverages for those in your boat, and plan to enjoy a special day on the water, touring the house and walking around the property. Wear comfortable, durable shoes -- much of the property is covered with oyster shells and is hard on the feet. Please bring trash bags to carry off any waste brought on to the island. No pets, please. Non-members are welcome to accompany you. BE SURE TO HAVE ENOUGH LIFE JACKETS ON BOARD FOR ALL PASSENGERS. RSVP to Tim and Margaret Cross at 361-758-6579 or e-mail southerncross@pelicancoast.net so that we know the approximate number to expect. APYC Cruise to PIYC and Overnight at
Spinnaker Hole - Saturday, April 19th
APYC has been invited to share in PIYC's (Padre Island Yacht Club) western-themed Blue Plate night on Saturday, April 19th. Their chef-of-the month is preparing brisket with all the trimmings, and entertainment will be provided by some of their members. Cost per person is $7.50, and they have a full bar. For those of you who prefer to drive, directions can be found on the link below. If you plan to go by boat, follow the ICW headed south beneath the JFK Causeway. Approximately 1/2 mile south of the 555 Mile Marker on the ICW, you'll see a well marked channel to the East (don't cut the corner--be well into the channel making the turn!); the first building you come to on your left is the PIYC Club House. The guest docks are right up front. Water depth in this channel and at Spinnaker Hole is 6-7 feet. Overnighting APYC boaters will anchor at Spinnaker Hole, just a short distance from PIYC. We'll plan to anchor and dinghy over to their courtesy dock for dinner. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. We must have your rsvp by April 14th so they can prepare enough food. No late reservations will be accepted. Please let Margaret and Tim Cross know if you plan to have dinner at PIYC and whether you plan to join the boating group in Spinnaker Hole.
